WelcomeHome allows you to designate someone as a 2nd resident in a unit. This is used when more than one person occupies a single unit. You want the resident count to include each individual resident, but you only want the unit to count once on the occupancy board. When you have the 2nd resident toggle turned on, an S will appear at the end of the unit number for that individual to indicate they are the second resident.
Please keep in mind, not all communities have the 2nd resident variant option enabled or have it displayed differently. You may have an A and B added to the unit number rather than an S or you may have to have the unit privacy level be shared in order to have the residents and unit count correctly on the occupancy board.
When using this feature, you'll want to turn the 2nd resident toggle on one housing contract. If the prospects are on the same housing contract, do not turn on the 2nd resident toggle. This will cause the unit to not count at all on the occupancy board.
You can enable the 2nd resident toggle by:
- Going to the housing contract for the individual. You can find this by going to:
- The Unit tab or Unit & Deposit tab (depending on your account set up) on the Prospect Profile
- Clicking on the Resident's name in the Occupancy Board, to navigate to their Resident Profile
- Searching for the resident in the universal search bar
- On the housing contract, click the three dots in the corner to edit.
- Within the housing contract, click the 2nd resident button toggle. It will be blue when it is enabled. Click "Update Housing Contract" to save this change.
- The unit will now have an S or a B (depending on your operator settings) indicating they are correctly set as the 2nd resident.
